Title: Adventures in Academia: From Penn State to the Land of 10,000 Lakes

Sponsored by the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences and the Agronomy Affiliate Program Group (AAPG)

Guest Speaker: Nancy Jo Ehlke, Professor and Head, Agronomy and Plant Breeding, University of Minnesota

Dr. Ehlke received her Ph.D. in Agronomy from Penn State in 1987. Her current responsibilities are to conduct research on the genetics and breeding methodologies of forage legumes, turf grasses, and native legumes; to conduct a germplasm enhancement and varietal development program for important forage crops and turf grasses; and to develop management strategies which maximize the profitability and sustainability of grass and legume seed production. In addition, she has administrative responsibility for a department with 24 faculty and 9 adjunct faculty in St. Paul and 5 faculty and 4 adjunct faculty located at 4 Research and Outreach Centers across the state.

    Awardee and Guest Speaker — Dr. Nancy Jo Ehlke, Head of the Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics at the University of Minnesota. Dr, Ehlke conducts research on the genetics and breeding of turf grasses and native legumes and develops management strategies for grass and legume seed production.
